Bye Bye Birdie Auditions (Young Performers Edition) Ages 11-18
Audition Workshop Date: Friday, March 30th from 6:00-7:30pm
Audition Date: April 21st at 9:00am
Show Dates: August 2nd-4th at 7:30pm and August 5th at 2:30pm
Workshop attendance is not required to audition for the show. We will talk about the show, go over the short dance combination, read some short scenes and learn a song from the show!
A loving send-up of the 1960s, small-town America, teenagers, and rock & roll, BYE BYE BIRDIE remains as fresh and vibrant as ever. Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted, so he chooses All-American girl Kim MacAfee for a very public farewell kiss. Featuring a tuneful high-energy score, plenty of great parts for teens, and a hilarious script, BIRDIE continues to thrill audiences around the world.
Please bring your prepared song with accompaniment (CD, IPOD, MP3, Aux cord is available for phones). Songs from Bye Bye Birdie acceptable for auditions and sheet music will be on hand for these. A capella auditions are not recommended. You may also prepare a monologue or we will provide you sides to read from. These short scenes (sides) will be available at or after the workshop by contacting the director. Please wear/bring shoes you can dance in! Not required, but if you have a resume please bring it.
If you have sheet music for other audition songs, please deliver a copy to AMP no later than April 14th or scan and email to email@example.com.
We are also looking for young people who are interested in any work that goes on behind the scenes! Such as playing in the orchestra, running lights, painting sets, stage crew and more!
For any questions, a copy of the rehearsal schedule or if you cannot make the April 21st audition, you may schedule an earlier audition by contacting the Director Sophia Rose Loveday at firstname.lastname@example.org.
